Fly Fishing is Still Sexy

If you’re wondering about the title of this blog post, then just check out one of my first blog postings ever – about the annual Woman’s Fly Fishing Seminar on the Salmon River.

When I first wrote about the two-day seminar, I was a participant and had a great time. Similar to the year I attended, this year the women met up at the Salmon River Fish Hatchery on Saturday and learned a variety of skills, such as fly tying and casting.

Thirteen women participated this year, according to Fred Kuepper, one of the organizer’s of the event. Fred is also a member of Trout Unlimited and a member of Project Healing Waters (which is an amazing organization you can read about here).

Unfortunately I could not attend, but I stopped by for a couple of hours on Saturday to get photos of the ladies using their newly learned skills on the river. It was a gorgeous, sunny day which was a great day to practice casting, even if only a few fish were caught.

On Sunday they fished in the upper fly zone of the Salmon River. The weather was the complete opposite of Saturday. It was cold, rainy and windy, but luckily that made for perfect fishing conditions and the women caught steelhead, small Atlantics and small to medium-sized fresh stocked browns.

If you’re interested in participating next year, then contact Fred Kuepper at FredKuepper@aol.com.

Below are some of the photos I took at the seminar! It was a gorgeous day to photograph the beautiful Salmon River!

What a nice site/post and I'm glad the women's seminar was so well-attended and that you were able to stop by and get those nice pics. Thanks for sharing.
